Yo Yo Honey Singh sings Reality Tunes

Rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh is all set to make his small screen debut with the musical reality show, India's Raw Star . The Blue Eyes singer recently shot the promo of the show, which aims at tapping raw singing talent from all corners of India. Honey Singh will appear as judgecum- mentor on the show that will select rare voices from modest backgrounds with a fire in the belly. The promo shows Honey Singh prodding aspiring singers to think out of the box to get an entry in the show.

"Yo Yo Honey Singh started off as a regular street singer who gradually rose to stardom. As the mentor on this show, he aims at tapping similar stories and wants to bring hidden talent from small cities and villages to the forefront," says a source from the channel.
Being an endorser of unconventional music, Honey Singh will break the regular format of reality music television on his show, too. There will be no long queues and hassled aspirants waiting for their turn as the show will have only digital audition. Contestants will have to shoot their videos and upload the same on the show's website.

By promoting digital auditions, Honey Singh hopes to cash in on his online fan power since his music is always a massive hit on YouTube.

"Digital audition will give a chance to all aspiring singers from all over the country. In regular musical shows, the constants have to rush to a few prominent cities where the auditions are held. This process will save them the effort," adds the source.

India's Raw Star is likely to replace Star Plus' much- hyped comedy show Mad In India , which has been consistently getting poor ratings since its launch.

Rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh halts US tour midway through to return back to India

Popular and controversial rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh has temporarily halted his ongoing US tour to return to India, as a favor to friend and Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar.

Kumar has requested that Singh provide a track for Kumar’s upcoming film, Shaukeen. The film is still in early stages, as songs are typically recorded early on so that the actors can later dance to them during filming, but the film is a remake of the Shaukeen film from 1982. It is directed by Abhishek Sharma, of Tere Bin Laden fame, and will co-star Lisa Haydon opposite Kumar.

Singh and Kumar’s friendship is no secret, as the former has sung a number of songs for films starring the Bollywood heartthrob. Most recently, Singh recorded “Party All Night” for Kumar’s 2013 production, Boss, and has also sung a track for Kumar’s Khiladi 786. Additionally, Singh can be heard on the soundtracks for hit films like Cocktail, Race 2, and Chennai Express.

In addition to taking time off for Kumar, Singh also hung out with another famous Bollywood friend of his: Shah Rukh Khan. The two, who collaborated on the track “Lungi Dance” for Khan’s Chennai Express, flew to Abu Dhabi last week for an IPL match, after which they partied together.

Khan is in the Middle East shooting his latest film, Happy New Year, directed by Farah Khan. The movie will re-united Khan with Deepika Padukone and Abhishek Bachchan, and is due for release later this year.

There’s no word yet on if and when Singh will resume his US tour. In addition to his live performance obligations, Singh is gearing up for the release of The Xpose, a film he made with musician/actor Himesh Reshammiya that will be Singh’s debut as an actor in a major movie role. The film is currently set to hit screens on May 23.

Kumar, meanwhile, is gearing up for the release of his next film, Holiday: A Soldier is Never Off Duty.  That film, which co-stars Sonakshi Sinha and Govinda, directed by A.R. Murugadoss (Ghajini), is set to hit theaters worldwide on June 6.

Himesh Reshammiya and Yo Yo Honey Singh’s The Xpose not scared of Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal’s election results?

Himesh Reshammiya and Yo Yo Honey Singh’s upcoming retro murder mystery musical flick has been promoting itself very well. A few week before the release date, The Xpose was preponed by a week. If we recall there is no other movie releasing on the said Friday. We wonder why…

After scratching our heads for some time we figured out that the National Election results are to be out on the same day and thus all the producer directors had stayed clear of that Friday. But Himesh and Honey decided to take that risk and release their film on the very same day. Now there is a good thing about it as there are no other films releasing that weekend. But on the other hand, the whole nation will be engrossed in getting to know the result of the Lok Sabha Elections, especially Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal.

The news channels are not just expecting the maximum viewership on the said Friday, but also throughout the weekend. But Himesh and Honey are of the opinion that the results will be out on Friday and people will be free from all hassles and tensions on the weekend and thus go out for their movie. So were the makers not scared at all about the election results? We wonder…Talking to a leading daily Rakesh Upadhyay, creative producer of The Xpose, says, “We are aware that May 16 is counting day, but by afternoon, the results will be known and people will step out after that. Also, the election staff that has been tied up for the last several months will be looking forward to some relief after all these months. I am sure our film will provide them the much-needed entertainment quotient. We had initially announced May 23 as we were unaware of the detailed schedule of IPL’s cricket matches at that time. Later, we realised that from May 23 to 25, there are qualifying matches for the semi-finals and there are two matches on a day, so we decided to pull forward the release.” Also, now that Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiiyaan has been postponed to May 23, it was good that The Xpose didn’t clash with Rajini sir’s magnum opus. The Xpose also stars Irrfan Khan and newcomers, Zoya Afroz and Sonali Raut.

Now only time will tell us that all awaited date will bring good luck for whom? Will it be NaMo or RaGa or AK? Or will the audience give more time to Himesh Reshammiya and Yo Yo Honey Singh? Only time will tell us that. So BollywoodLifers, who do you think will own the viewership this Friday, the 16th May?

The latest sensation in Bollywood music, Yo Yo Honey Singh met Khatron Ke Khiladi 5 contestant, Deana Uppal, over a lunch recently in a upscale Mumbai restaurant. The issue is definitely blown out of proportion claiming the duo have something "brewing". Deana Uppal, the Indo-British model/actress who was also the Miss India UK 2012, is in news currently because of her stint in the stunt-based action reality show, Khatron Ke Khiladi 5. ADVERTISEMENT Yo Yo, as we all know is married to his childhood sweetheart. Though, he denied being married, he admitted he is last year. Deana and Yo Yo had a two-hour long lunch date, where they were seen laughing out loud and having a fun time together. The reason could be their UK connection and good friends on a lunch date nothing else. (Or it might be.) Here are the photos of their lunch date and also Yo Yo's wedding photos.

Protest against Yo Yo Honey Singh for mentioning Article 377 in ‘Fugly’ song

He already stormed a debate for his blatant lyrics- term it in favour or against women’- but then in another perspective the Punjabi rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh has all sorts of fan following, including females itself to support him. Once again the iconic singer’s lyrics, this time in ‘Fugly’ title track, are a matter of debate and protest by LGBT community.

The song which goes like “Yeh Fugly Fugly kya hai yeh Fugly Fugly… Baap Ke Paison Pe Koodna, Sadak Ke Kone Pe Mootna, 377 Hatna Ya Jessica Lal Ki Ghatna, Launde Ke Munh Se Ouch…” has stirred a controversy.
The LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) community has criticised Singh for stating Article 377 which, criminalises sexual activities "against the order of nature", arguably including homosexual acts, alongside mentioning defamatory statements like peeing at the roadside and living on one’s father’s money.
However, the director Kabir Sadanand has come forth to defend the song and Honey Singh stating in an interview to a leading daily, “We stand for the freedom of choices and no Article can take that away. That’s exactly what the song states. The lyric writer is supporting the movement to remove Article 377. The right to choose our partner is a fundamental right. The LGPT community is misinterpreting the lyricist’s intention. We stand for freedom on every level.”
Yo Yo Honey Singh, on the other hand too is invariable about the song’s intentions saying, “My music and songs stand for every individual’s freedom to choose the life he or she wants. That’s what I always say in my songs.”
The song could se Bollywood superstars Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan along with the lead actors of the flicks Mohit Marwah, Kiara Advani, Vijender Singh and Arfi Lamba, dancing together.
Directed by Kabir Sadanand, the Fugly is slated to release on June 13th this year.

Yo Yo Honey Singh’s Fugly song featuring Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar angers gay community

The lyrics of the Fugly title track written by Yo Yo Honey Singh featuring Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar has hurt the sentiments of the gay community. While the song seems light-hearted and harmless, one verse from the track is the problem. The song opens with the lines, “Yeh Fugly Fugly Kya Hai? Yeh Fugly Fugly… Baap Ke Paison Pe Koodna, Sadak Ke Kone Pe Mootna, 377 Hatna Ya Jessica Lal Ki Ghatna, Launde Ke Munh Se Ouch…” The translation of this line is, “What is this Fugly? Enjoying on father’s money, urinating in public? The removal of 377 or the murder of Jessica Lal… A man saying, ‘ouch’..”

An online forum that discusses homosexuality and issues related to the on going battle for gay rights has been blazing with comments from everyone who finds the song offensive. Rohit an active member of the board says, “Why compare the removal of Article 377 to urinating in public, murder of Jessica Lal or someone enjoying his father’s money.”

While the comments are largely negative (see box) there are some who feel the lyrics aren’t offensive. Giving a different view, Naresh who enjoys Honey Singh’s work says, “At least the track is bringing some attention to 377. I don’t think it’s dissing the community. People will at least be curious to know about what this regressive law is all about!”

Sukhdeep Singh, editor of LGBT digital magazine Gaylaxy who has written a scathing piece on the song, says, “It is highly deplorable that they have to mock the LGBT community and group the removal of 377 (which happened after the 2009 judgement) along with a a bunch of disgusting things like urinating in public, murder for Jessica Lal and then call it ugly. For Bollywood, LGBT community has been a kind of punching bag and this song goes a few notches further. Not only just 377, the song also makes fun of gender non-conforming or feminine men when it says ‘Launde Ke Munh Se Ouch’. It is hardly surprising though, given that Honey Singh’s songs have been sexist and misogynist and now he has turned homophobic too. The movie is described as a comedy movie with a social message, but if the title track is to go by, one wonders is homophobia the message that they are going to deliver?”

After reading the negative comments from the gay community director Kabir Sadanand who stands for gay rights and believes 377 should be scraped says, “We stand for the freedom of choices and that’s exactly what the song states. I am sure this is also the take of the lyric writer. 377 hatna is our fundamental right. Let’s be clear, freedom stands at all levels, freedom of speech, freedom to live and freedom to be!”

Honey believes his words strike a chord with the youth because he is honest and portrays things as he sees them. "I write what I see. I observe what kids are doing. I make these songs for fans. They relate to them, play them at parties and enjoy dancing to them." When asked if his popularity restricts his songwriting, he says he's an entertainer, not a scholar. "Main kisi ko sunane, sikhane nahi aaya. If I am writing Blue Eyes for those over 18, I am also making Party With The Bhoothnath for kids. Parents should tell their kids, 'Yo Yo Honey Singh ke yeh gaane suno, woh mat suno.'"

Yo Yo Honey Singh to make TV debut with a music show RawStar

Yo Yo Honey Singh is one among the few celebrities who know how to make people dance on his tunes. He has surprised audience with back-to-back dhamakedaar hits, then by making his debut in Bollywood with Himesh Reshammiya in The Xpose and now he is all set to make small screen debut as a judge-mentor on an upcoming music-based show.

A leading publication reported that the show has been titled as RawStar. The publication also quoted him as saying," The concept of the show, which is called RawStar, is quite interesting and crazy. Through the show, which will have digital auditions, I am searching for someone who is even more talented and me. Someone who has energy, confidence and is spontaneous. It is not voice testing show like others...we will polish them, while keeping their rawness intact."
Further, he also shared about his aim in life, "My aim is to reach the whole of India. Mujhe har language main gaana hai. I don't fear being overexposed, but having said that I know that because of my popularity- my responsibility towards my audience has increased a lot."

Fugly title song

The makers of Fugly have finally released the special Yo Yo Honey Singh number from their film which features two superstars – Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan. Titled Yeh fugly fugly kya hai, the song also stars Vijendra Singh, Mohit Marwah, Kiara Advani and Arif Lamba. But it’s Khiladi Kumar who steals the show all the way. In fact, AK looks so hot in the title track that he completely overshadows the Bhai of Bollywood. So much so that you won’t even look at Sallu miyaan even for a minute. No wonder, the Kick actor go upset during the shooting of this song and walked away without filming the number entirely. Besides Akshay, we also loved the way this song has been shot. It’s very creative and innovative, must say! Coming to the song, the Lungi dance singer has yet again hit the bullseye with his latest offering. Ye fugly fugly kya hai is super entertaining and fun to hear. Though we did found the music of this song quite similar to Singh’s Party with the Bhoothnath. Nonetheless, the title track of Fugly which is produced by Akki himself is worth hearing!
