I don't consume alcohol, says Chaar Bottle Vodka singer Honey Singh

You won’t believe it, but Yo Yo Honey Singh says he doesn’t drink. Yes, even after songs similar to Chaar Bottle Vodka, Party All Night, High Heels, Blue Eyes and Sunny Sunny, the rapper insists that he does not do ‘daaru’.“Main alcohol nahi peeta. Aapko meri ek bhi photo nahi milegi jahaan main daru pee raha hoon (I do not consume alcohol. You won’t notice a single photo that shows me drinking),” says the 31-year-old pop icon, whose birth name is Hirdesh Singh.
Asked where he then finds out inspiration for his controversial lyrics with explicit use of booze words such as vodka, daaru and champagne, he says it’s all of ‘observation’. “Mere gaane ke lyrics toh meri observations se influence hote hain. Main clubs mein youth ko yeh sab karte aur bolte huye dekhta hoon, aur ussi ki reflection mere gaano main hoti hai. I just sing about precisely how youth party these days,” he explains.

So what does he have to say to critics who believe that he is adversely influencing younger people through his songs? “Aaj ki date mein koi apne baap ki nahi sunta toh meri kya sunega! The thing is, with today’s busy schedules, har insaan ko poochha jaata hai ki yeh kyon kar rahe ho … woh kyon kar rahe ho... kahaan jaa rahe ho... par mere gaane iss sab se alag hain, aur kehte hain ki kuchh bhi karo. Isliye logon ko pasand hai,” he retorts.

“Moreover, I have created a music on Shaheed Bhagat Singh as well, apart from writing on the problem of alcoholism and drug addiction, but they didn’t become successful,” he adds.

Stressing his point, Honey goes on, “As an entertainer, my first assignment is to entertain my fans who have made me who I will today. I am not a preacher who can notify youth what they should be to do and what they should not be doing. The youth of our country is brilliant enough to know what is good and bad, and my songs can’t convert their thinking.”

As many of his sounds are about girlfriend bashing, we couldn’t help but then ask what his girlfriend Shalini thinks of these. “She doesn’t wish my songs but she likes me. She is not always that musically inclined but she prefers romantic numbers,” signs off the singer, who is getting ready to release three more singles.

A lot of people do not know that Angreji Beat is a song from his album which has been used in the movie, Cocktail. It was in the album, international villagers featuring Gippy Grewal. However, very few people know much about the rapper. For example, sometime back, Honey Singh confessed that he is married. The artist has been a singer and composer since many years. Very few people know about him. However, Honey Singh or Yo Yo is trending these days. So, here are some interesting facts about him.

Himesh Reshammiya and Yo Yo Honey Singh confident about The Xpose......!!!!!

Himesh Reshammiya will entertain the audience once again with his new film The Xpose which will also mark Punjabi rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh’s acting debut. Directed by Anant Mahadevan and produced by Vipin Reshammiya, the film was to release on May 23. However, The Xpose will now hit the theatres a week in advance that is on May 16. Since the film’s music has garnered positive response from the audience, the makers have decided to release the film early. Anil Thadani who has bought the distribution rights of Himesh’s film was the one who suggested this idea of early-release to the makers of The Xpose. While talking to a leading daily, a source said, “Seeing the success of the music of Aashiqui 2, Anil, who had distributed that movie as well, had recommended proponing its release. And the result was a box-office hit. Now that the music of The Xpose has become successful, he has made a similar suggestion. Also, there are six crucial cricket matches between May 23 and 25.”

Rakesh Upadhyay, creative producer of Reshammiya and Singh’s film has confirmed the change in the release date. He said to a leading daily, “May 16 is a better date because there is only one cricket match that weekend.”

Going by Mr Upadhyay’s statement, wethinks the makers of The Xpose have revised the release date coz they don’t Himesh starrer to clash with the cricket matches. As for the music, The Xpose is nowhere close to Aashiqui 2 which was the biggest musical blockbuster of the last year. All we can say to The Xpose team and Himesh Reshammiya is that – there is a thin line between being confident and over confident. And wethinks the producer-singer-actor is the latter one in this case!

Yo Yo Honey Singh: I’d do anything for Akshay Kumar and Shahrukh Khan!

India’s current singing sensation is ready to do anything for two of his favourite Bollywood stars

“Dildaar and yaaron ka yaar” is how Yo Yo Honey Singh likes to describe himself. He proved this recently when he flew back from his US tour for some very special recordings for the new Akshay Kumar-starrer Shaukeen.

Akshay, who has repeatedly collaborated with Honey Singh in the past, requested the rapper-performer for one special number in the Abhishek Sharma-directed remake of Basu Chatterjee’s Shaukeen. In the new movie, Akshay is paired with Lisa Haydon.

The rapper insisted on doing three songs instead of one. “Anything for a friend. And there are two stars in Bollywood for whom I’d do anything. Akshay and Shahrukh bhai (Shahrukh Khan) are like my brothers. When Akshay requested me to do one song, I told him, ‘Ek kyun, teen le lo (Why one, take three)’. I feel my tuning with Akshay is such that he is able to put a face to what I sing as effectively as I do,” he said.

Honey Singh also flew down specially to be with his other favourite Shahrukh Khan in Abu Dhabi last week for the IPL match and the after-party. “I was in Dubai when Shahrukh bhai invited me for the match and the after-party. It was fun unlimited,” he said

Yo Yo Honey Singh and Jacqueline Fernandez

Yo Yo also seems to have made friends with Jacqueline Fernandez at the recent Miss India pageant. Says Yo You, “It was nothing. We were judges at the contest. I happened to mention to her that we hadn’t been given anything to eat for nearly four hours. Jacqueline fished out these amazing diet laddoos. We gorged on them together.”

Dildaar and yaaron ka yaar is how Yo Yo Honey Singh likes to describe himself. He proved it with his action recently  when he flew back from his current American tour for some very special recordings in the new Akshay Kumar in Shaukeen.

Apparently Akshay who has  collaborated repeatedly with  Yo Yo in the past requested the rapper-performer for one special number in the Abhishek Sharma-directed remake of Basu Chatterjee’s Shaukeen which pairs Akshay with Lisa Haydon.

Yo Yo insisted on doing three songs instead of one. Says the Honey Singh, “Main aisa hi hoon. Anything for a friend. And there are two stars in Bollywood for whom I’d do anything. Why 2013 was a great year to be Honey Singh

However, things were drastically different for the rapper around this time last year. Accused of penning offensive lyrics of two songs, Honey Singh was engulfed in controversies. Outrage against the rapper's derogatory songs flooded social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter too. The biggest blow came when he was forced to cancel his New Year's Eve show in 2012 following protests in the backdrop of the Delhi gang rape incident and an FIR was filed against him in Lucknow.

He's come a long way since. He's proved that there isn't anything he can't bounce back from. While 2012 clearly wasn't his year, 2013 belonged solely to him. Fans and haters alike can't ignore this Hoshiarpur artiste who has taken the country by storm and is enjoying a wave of success in Bollywood with compositions like 'Lungi Dance' and 'Party All Night'. Here's why it was great being Honey Singh this year.

The Xpose music review: Himesh Reshammiya, Yo Yo Honey Singh, Mohammed Irfan and Mika Singh bring out a superb retro album!

Music: Himesh Reshammiya

Lyrics: Shabbir Ahmed, Sameer Anjaan and Kumaar

Singers: Himesh Reshammiya, Yo Yo Honey Singh, Palak Muchhal, Mohammed Irfan, Mika Singh, Mohit Chauhan, Neeti Mohan, Shubhangi Tiwari, Shalmali Kholgade and Rekha Bhardwaj

Himesh Reshammiya might have had drawn a lot of flak for his acting abilities, but lets be honest, when it comes to composing music, he has delivered practically every time. There are hardly any albums by Himesh, which didn’t do well and trust us, The Xpose is equally rocking. This album is filled with a series of chart busters all put together in retro Bollywood style. Let us have a song by song review of the album and find out which ones we like and which ones we loathe.

Ice cream

Sung by Himesh Reshammiya, Yo Yo Honey Singh and Palak Muchhal, this song may have the worst starting title ever, but the rest of the lyrics, by Shabbir Ahmed, are pretty catchy and addictive. The tune sticks onto your lips right after the very first hear. It is a full on B-town retro song, which will remind you of the RD Burman tracks of the ’60s. Even though this song begins with a quick rap by Yo Yo Honey Singh, it is Himesh’s composition that rules the track. Himesh and Palak’s singing style also resembles that of Mohd Rafi and Asha Bhosle.

Dard dilo ke

Sung by Mohammed Irfan, this song is a very soulful and melodious number. Although the song is unknowingly similarly to Arijit Singh’s Tum hi ho from Aashiqui 2, the song is magically romantic. The unplugged treatment of the song is quintessentially superb and it is Sameer Anjaan’s lyrics that make you listen to the song over and over again.

Hai apna dil toh

Sung by Yo Yo Honey Singh and Himesh Reshammiya, this is another retro song. The opening lyrics remind you invariably about the Dev Anand song, but the song is no rip off of the original. Himesh’s voice is completely different in this song as he has fully sung in low pitch, which you will love to the core, although Yo Yo Honey Singh keeps interjecting throughout the number.

The "Blue Eyes" hitmaker has been roped in to shoot a music video with Koyal.
"That is a commitment I made before my current paschim-yatra (westside journey) started. I was a judge at the Miss India pageant and after the winner was selected I'm doing a song and music video with her," he said.Honey Singh's song for Miss India would be his only original track in recent times.
"Even the song that I did for Sanjay Leeela Bhansali's 'Gabbar' is an old number. But working with Bhansali was a dream come true," he said.
Honey Singh has written a rap number about his new association with Bhansali.
"When I was a child, I saw the Ram Leela performed on stage. Now, there is the film 'Ram Leela' ('Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela') and its maker actually wanted me to do a song for Akshay Kumar in 'Gabbar'. Akshay was one of the first Bollywood A-listers to believe in me. We gelled before we jammed together," he said. For now, there is only the song with Koyal.
Apparently, the number that he plans with her would be completely cleaned out. It would not have any hint of naughtiness, not even one suggestive word.

The Xpose song Ice cream khaungi: Yo Yo Honey Singh and Himesh Reshammiya’s latest song

Forget about the hilarious lyrics of the latest song of The Xpose, Ice cream khaungi, here’s another revelation

Yo Yo Honey Singh and Himesh Reshamiyya’s latest song Ice cream khaungi from The Xpose may claim to be inspired by the 60s, but here’s the truth the song reminds us of a popular number from the 90s. Well, we expected the cool rapper and the nasal singer to come up up with an entertaining number, instead they have churned out a song that’s only 60′s factor is actor Dharmendra. 29 seconds into the Ice cream song and you will know what we mean. The song is a direct rip off of Mera dil kho gaya song from Aazmayish that featured the not so known actors Anjali Jathar and Rohit Kumar. This forgettable movie also saw some of popular faces from the 60s veteran star Dharmendra and Prem Chopra.
Forward to 2014 and you have sensational Honey Singh join hands with the Tera suroor singer in suspense thriller and not just lend his voice, but also feature as a villain.

The Xpose song Hai apna dil

The Xpose’s latest song is a modern rendition of Hai apna dil with a twist from Yo Yo Honey Singh and a punch from Himesh Reshammiya. While Yo Yo adds glamour to this soulful track with his trademark rap, Himesh fails to impress us, thanks to his nasal twang! Unlike the film’s poster, plot and earlier numbers that were lifted from Hollywood and Bollywood, this song is a straight away remix of Dev Anand’s hit song. While we like what Honey Singh brings to this number, how we wish the other voice was still of Hemant Kumar. The film that is set against the backdrop of ’60s, fails to create the impact. And even the cool-as-cucumber Honey Singh models himself on the legendary Pran, he fails to bring the intensity of the star villain of Bollywood and is in fact extremely comic.
Himesh doesn’t just fail as a singer, but also a composer who has ruined a classic number. And why is Mr Reshammiya’s this bhool, unforgivable? ‘Coz he also has attempted and failed miserably to do justice to Helen’s Mehbooba song from cult film Sholay.
Here watch the Hai apna dil song from The Xpose only for Yo Yo Honey Singh, the saving grace in this otherwise ignorable number.

It's a very short role with only three to four scenes and it is a negative character," the 29-year-old said here at the Miss India 2014 contest."This film is based in the 1960s and I love the way Pran-ji used to act. After SRK, Yo Yo Honey Singh to collaborate with Ranbir Kapoor

Yo Yo Honey Singh won’t shake a leg on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 7

Yo Yo Honey Singh has charmed many with his dumdaar voice but he is equally a good dancer. So weren’t surprised when reports about him being approached for the upcoming the season of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa started doing the rounds. If a special Honey Singh number can boast a film’s prospect at the box office then the TRP’s of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa would certainly shoot up with his mere presence, hai na? We would love to see Honey Singh groove on his own numbers on the dance reality show but sadly the Lungi dance singer isn’t going to be part of the dance show. As per a leading tabloid, Singh is in no mood to shake a leg on any reality show and only wants to focus on his singing. Also, his other work commitments are keeping him busy as of now.
